Join us Thursday, September 10th at The Rusty Bumblebee for a one-of-a-kind evening combining craft beer, puppetry, storytelling, and a chance to build your very own crankie!

🍺 4:00 PM — PRYES BREWING TAP TAKEOVER
We’re turning over numerous taps to Pryes Brewing! Stop in early, grab a pour, and enjoy a lineup of Pryes favorites before the evening’s festivities begin.

🎭 6:30 PM — CRANKIE PERFORMANCE & BUILDING WORKSHOP
Featuring Minneapolis puppeteer Erica Warren!

Monkeybear alumni Erica Warren is a Black and CHamoru puppeteer based in Minneapolis. Since 2020, she has explored storytelling through shadow puppetry, crankies, and small-scale papier-mâché puppets.

Erica will kick things off with a live crankie performance, followed by a hands-on workshop where you’ll get the chance to BUILD YOUR OWN CRANKIE!

⚠️ Crankie workshop quantities are limited and available while supplies last — come early if you want to build!

🤔 WAIT… WHAT’S A CRANKIE?

A crankie is an old-fashioned storytelling art form made from one long illustrated scroll wound onto two spools inside a viewing box. As the scroll is cranked by hand, the illustrations move across the viewing window while a story is told or a song is sung.

Think old-school animation + live storytelling + puppetry all rolled into one!
